Loretta Weinberg Tuesday charged his position on health coverage which would cut coverage for 24-hour maternity stays. At a campaign stop in Verona, Corzine told supporters, "In recent years, we have taken great strides to make health care more accessible and affordable for New Jerseyans. In 1995, Weinberg co-sponsored legislation that would mandate health insurance companies to “provide 48 hours in-patient care or 96 hours in case of cesarean section, following delivery for mother and newly born child. is he nuts? the day the baby is born until 12am counts as 24hrs even if the baby is born at 11:59, a woman would end up leaving the hospital just 11 hours later (assuming the hospital checkout time is 11am like mine is) not to mention in other countrys the give everyone 4 days, and a c-section 6 because they realize the severity giving birth takes on the body.
I had one baby when they tried having a 36 hour hospital stay. Later it was changed to 48 hrs. For a first time mother a longer stay is preferable because there are things about baby care that she may not know about or things to look out for in a new born, that she might miss, like jaundice.I think even 48 hrs. can be too short for some mothers. It should be a case by case decision, not an arbitrary number.
