US Airways Group Inc. said today that it will raise fees for a first checked bag to $20 and for the second checked bag to $30. That's $5 more than the current fees of $15 and $25. US Airways said the increase matches baggage fees put in place by American Airlines earlier this summer. US Airways also said it will charge $50 for the second checked bag on trans-Atlantic flights. The first checked bag is free. US Airways currently does not charge for first or second bags on its trans-Atlantic flights. The fee changes are effective immediately for tickets bought for travel on or after Oct. 7. US Airways will continue to charge an additional $5 airport fee if luggage is checked in at the airport rather than online. AP
