Forty Two Firefighters Graduate O.C. Training Center

Congratulations! Forty-two new firefighters-including one from Lakewood-who completed an intensive training program of both classroom and hands-on instruction, were feted during graduation ceremonies at the Ocean County Training Center. After completing a demanding 180-hour program at the Ocean County Training Center, which houses the Ocean County Fire Academy, the graduates were awarded Level 1 Firefighter Certification. The students needed a score of 70 percent or better on a 100-question written examination. Students also needed to demonstrate physical and mental stability by passing a practical skills examination. Freeholder Director John C. Bartlett Jr. praised the graduates and their desire to volunteer in their communities. "These brave men and women deserve our thanks for their unselfish willingness to protect our homes and our families," Bartlett said.
