what a chutzpah . He gets arrested by the vienese authorities for major fraud and they make him a seuda? He has ruined many families back in vienna from his his shtick . .

What was he accused of? How do you know that he ruined anyone or anything? If what you say is correct, you are espousing LASHON HARA on another Jew. Shameful is a word that comes to mind. I dont know the facts but Baruch HaShem another Yid is happy! Baruch Matir Asurim!

I was at the mesibe. I heard his droshe he mentioned all the names who did for him from all over the world, but he didn`t mentioned a name from a yingeman from vienna (I don`t remeber his name he is the soninlaw of the ruf from there) who helpd the most. He was intouched with us (askonim) when Ch. M. was still in newark and i heard from him all the time.

Didn't this guy do something wrong? If so why do we talk about him as if he was a saint, he should be shunned and embarrassed.

your celebrating that another yid is happy while this same yid ruined countless famillies with his frauulent practices. Is this what you call a celebration? Are you still wondering why kids here in lakewood are dropping like flies from this religion of yours?

Hey admin-
This guy is a crook and did jail time for a CRIME!!!!
Why are you protecting him by removing/not posting negative comments??

Do you think this "party" will teach our young that its an honorable thing to go to jail???

Dont you see through the cloud????

REMOVE THIS POST!!!! THIS IS A HUGE CHILUL HASHEM!!!
someone goes to jail and is welcomed like a hero???????????

Anonymous said...

Completely disgraceful,

why dont we hear the rabbonim speak up about conducting business in an erlich manner,
is Tzinus the only important issue around?

Lets be realistic people!

Strulowitz gave loads of $$$ to BMG, so they have to give him the hakaras hatov of being at his celebration (be it getting out of jail or making a bar mitzvah). However, it should have been done in a quiet manner and pics of BMG hanhola should NOT have been posted.

Truth is though, from a moral point of view, nobody should have attended and given him a heroes welcome. Just like by the Lockerbie bomber who was released last week and was given a huge heroes welcome in Libya (yes, I know you can't even begin to compare the 2 cases...), so too, it looks bad to have an event for a convicted criminal that even schmecks of being a celebratory occasion.

We are happy for mr. strulowitz that he's out of jail and back home - but he doesn't deserve kovod and honor for it.

Utterly disgusting!

Are you aware that 80% of his company was made up of "rachmonos cases" who had no other way of finding work? That they were hired by Mr. Strolowitz to give them a chance to keap their lives together...What about all the broken hearts whom he helped and also took into his home? And all you can see is CRIME which you don't even know if it is true??

If the Austrian government found him innocent and let him go the day of the trial-how much of a crime could it have been??

Anonymous said...

Austria is a Nazi country and you believe them and accuse another yid of crime based on their accusations? I was involved trying to help in this case and know for a fact that the US lawyers could not understand how there was even a case? They claimed that in the USA this could never have happened...and you believe a Nazi Country and accuse a Yid based on their accusations?

A person that helped soo many people and gave so generously of himself to everyone that needed does not deserve to have people express their joy at his yeshua?
There were so many tfillos and such tremendous tzar felt by so many people during his time in jail...and on the other hand such unbelievable joy felt by so many people that heard the good news on the day of his trial. (I saw 2 people dancing in the street)That surely is because he helped so many people and there is such hakaras hatov

dont confuse 2 separate issues,

Im sure its true that he's helped many less fortunate people and givin lots of tzedokah,
we can also understand his celebrating his freedom etc...

the second issue ...

the fact is he admitted guilt to a fraud and for the roshe hayeshiva to come and celebrate his release from prison is utterly disgraceful and a big bizuyon hatorah

Did he commit fraud or didn't he?
If he did, why are the Roshei Yeshiva celebrating his release from jail?

"Austria is a Nazi country and you believe them and accuse another yid of crime based on their accusations?"

This is indeed a problem: they let him off with much too mild a punishment, perhaps becaus of their nazi past.

By the way: Strulowics also made the extreme-right wing parties in Austria very happy. They submitted a series of questions pertaining to the Strulowics case to the parliament. Of course they will try to reap as much antisemitism as they could out of the Strulowics case.

Newspapers particularly liked to emphasise that Strulowics is a "Rabbi".
It is a true "chilul hashem".

"If the Austrian government found him innocent and let him go the day of the trial-how much of a crime could it have been??"

The Austrian court did not find him innocent. He pleaded guilty to defrauding a total of at least 3 Million Euro from at least 43 persons. In an outrageously mild verdict (i.e. plea-bargain, which is not allowed in Austria), he was sentenced to the time he already spent in custody, so he could be released immediately.

By no means was he found innocent.

1) You cannot make a Mitzwah based on an Aveira

2) In my view, he abused those "rachmones cases" by havind them work for an illegal scheme. They also could have been "burnt", without much responsibility of their own.

3) Were you at the court hearings of the poor immigrants he defrauded? Suddenly the bank would ask from them hundereds of thousands of Euro, which they did not have, in payment of a flat they never saw? Did you see the number of families who were destroyed in the process? Did he ever offer to pay them back, just for morality's sake?

4) Isn't it a disgrace that someone like this is called a "Rabbi"?

5) If I were BMG, I would give him his donations back (or pay them straight to the victims).

I am speechless!!!!!! He cheated Eastern Europeans out of millions of dollars by promising condos and never coming through after he collected the money. He presented contracts in German so they purposely wouldn't understand. As a ba'al teshuva I have become very disillusioned over the past few months over the incidents we all know of. But this puts the icing on the cake. A celebration for Strulowitz!

is'nt it shamefull that he didnt mention a word of the most involved asken harav cheski sofer from vienna the son-in-law of the ruv of vienna harav schwartz)???? he was the whole power behind & openly. shame on you strulowitz!!!

why do you feel to thank the horedenke that much, and sofer you didnt even mention?
this is unbeleavable...ugly!

i dont know if hes innocent or not but one thing i do know many years ago when he made an hachnosas sefer torah it was a tremendous kiddush hashem witch definitly made a big impact on a lot of people

"many years ago when he made an hachnosas sefer torah it was a tremendous kiddush hashem witch definitly made a big impact on a lot of people"

When was this? While he was a fugitive, trying to escape the people he defrauded and the justice system? So you were impressed by a Hachnosat sefer Torah donated by someone who should be in jail?

Where are we going?

In Austria there is no such a thing as a plea bargain-he admitted "guilty" in court by admitting guilty all he admitted to was that he had been the leader of the real estate company that was accused, thereby taking responsibility for all actions of that company. And still the judge let him go! That was due to the fact that the judge felt that it was the banks that had been the guilty party!!! and that is why the let him go and closed the case.So before acuusing another Yid it would be nice to have the facts straight...

All newspapers in Austria also wrote that "Mr. Strulowitz kept quiet during interrogatories in court and did not want to reveal any other jews name...because that was forbidden by his religion.."he was willing to suffer the consequences as long as he wouldn't have to hurt another jew

I as an Austrian Citizen living in Vienna am extremely embaressed the way "Austrian Yidden" wrote about Mr. Strulowitz.
Mr Strulowitz gave a fortune of money to Vienna charities and helped many many people among them many downtrodden jews whom nobody ever cared about. (I even heard from one person who is mentally disturbed- has no family whatsoever and neboch a very uncomfortable smell that the only person who always invited him for meals- took him into his home and helped him with money was Mr. Strulowitz..)
I just want to mention that the sentiments of jews in Vienna are very very happy for Mr. Strulovics and extremely grateful for evrything he did for our town all the years. He has many zechussim which I'm sure are the reason that Hashem has b"h helped him.
