At last night's township meeting the ordinance to change the age restriction in the PRV (Pine River Village) development was passed. The ordinance stipulated a fee of 5,000 per house as remuneration to the township. The township committee members agreed with Deputy Mayor Steve Langert that while it is agreed by all parties that the town will be compensated, the actual amount will be decided based on professional appraisals, and the 5,000 figure is not final. It was a pleasant meeting now that the discussion about whether or not there should be a fee at all has been resolved, with the only issue remaining is the amount.
U/D The ordinance only passed the first reading and still requires a second reading. The issue now goes to the planning board and will be brought back for a second reading at a later date. At that time, the final amount will be decided.

I still do n0ot understand why Lakewood gave BMG this land and BMG pockets 9Mil. Can someone explain how taxpayers gain? Of coursde when it comes time for election we will hear "hakoras hatov" to encumbents. I guess that is what it means - Not wow my tax rate has gone down.

Thank you Steve Langert for standing up for the taxpayers. I don't feel that 400k is nearly enough but at least its a starting point.
Steven Langert is the only one on that committe that went to bat for the taxpayers behind the scenes.
yes! steve langert is a good example of a committeeman who feels no need to return a favor to anyone at the expense of the people of our town.he is very good at assessing every situation that arises fairly and impartially.he understands the central importance of the yeshiva in our town,yet is willing to speak his mind when he feels the yeshivas specific need may be going against the greater good of our town.
thank you steve for all your help,may you keep up your good work,until you owe too many favors to too many people and need to be replaced as well.it should be in many years to come

it is all about favors.the more years a politician is in office the more likely he will become corrupted by different power brokers.when the people that represent us feel too comfortable,and irreplaceable,they will do what is best for them and their friends.once we replace those that do for themselves with good people like steve ,that have an understanding of the needs of this town ,we can move forward to create a town that all people feel a responsibility toward.we then can put an end to this prevailing attitude of doing what is best for ones self or ones tax bill or ones moisad or shul,without thought to what is best for lakewood as a whole.

You have no idea what you are talking about. Lichtenstein made a speech at the meeting and he said everyone on the committee was together on this. They want to help the people but will not settle for a minimal amount. EVERYONE on the committee wants a proffessional apraiser to decide what the right value is and the entire committee voted that way.

Lakewood township gave BMG the land in exchange for the much more valuable parcel where the stadium is. BMG bought up all that land 30 years ago when it was very cheap. There was talk of building a new yeshiva campus there but it never worked out.

R"Shneur was buying up lanmd is that what you are claiming. Who was this BMG? The mesorah was R Ahronj and R shner were involved in the yeshiva not buying up land in Lakewood to moove the yeshiva. BMG got into this real estate stuff recently.
