Court Appointed Trustee Suing Deal Yeshiva-Rabbeim & Teachers Left Without Pay

The court-appointed trustee of Solomon Dwek is suing the Yeshiva his father founded more than 20 years ago, accusing the school of helping Dwek perpetrate a Ponzi scheme, a report in the APP said. The suit alleges, Deal Yeshiva in West Long Branch allowed Dwek to funnel $13 million through two Yeshiva bank accounts, and the trustee is demanding the Yeshiva return the money. Meanwhile, Rabbeim and teachers at the school that five years ago reported nearly $10 million in income, say Deal Yeshiva owes them up to six months worth of salary. One of the Rabbeim-a Lakewood resident-told The Lakewood Scoop, that some Rabbeim-including himself-are owed over a half years worth of pay.

a word to all roshei mosdos who are behind in paying their staff. Reb Elya Svei Zata"l was known to never be late in paying his staff. he said if you don't pay your electric bill it comes to a point where they shut off your electric. If you want your staff to work at their best, Reb Elya said, you have to pay on time and there is NO excuse to be late. Period. It is known that even in todays economy there are certain roshei mosdos (Reb Yankel Bender for example)who do more than just make meetings & mailings to pay on time. they go out and knock on doors both of parents who owe tuition & potential donors. it is also dead wrong for parents who owe tuition not to pay up.i know people who took out equity lines to pay what they made up to pay.

I'm an english teacher in a local mosad and I haven't gotten paid since june 15th. I have to feel like a beggar when I call up 2 or 3 times a week to ask if they have money to pay me. No apologies. All I'm told is that a different school is further behind. Wonderful. That'll pay for my health insurance I think its a travesty. If you won't be able to pay your employees, then DONT OPEN A SCHOOL!

I have a chaver who runs a mosod & says that it is known that parents who pay their tuitions even in hard times, are more matzliach with their children. You can argue if this is emes or not but if the saying of 'better safe than sorry' has any meaning, I would like to be safe & not sorry with my childrens chinuch. WOULDN'T YOU?? P.S. I don't run a mosod.

Well I was an english teacher locally. I put my soul in to my job and I was successful and well liked, which is quite unusual for an english teacher. I left to get a job even though I get as much salary in 3 hours of teaching as a whole day of working. But its not a salary if I don't get paid.

First poster: why is it such a chiddush that someone would take out an equity line to pay their tuition bill that it's deserving of mention? If you can afford to carry a mortgage, you can afford to pay tuition. There are many who have foregone owning their own home so that they could maintain their tuition obligation. If this is truly a chiddush, Klal Yisrael has some seriously confused priorities.
