Former Mayor Ray Coles: I Was Hoping It Was Just A Rumor"

The political and housing brass here have long heard the rumors: Jeffrey Williamson, a housing inspector, was for sale. So they weren't exactly blindsided by the news Thursday morning that the two-time Assembly candidate was arrested on bribery charges as part of a sweeping FBI public corruption probe. "I've heard rumors over the years but was hoping they were just that and wouldn't come to light," Township Committeeman and former mayor Raymond Coles said. Funny how one corrupt politician points fingers at the other one.

it was such a pleasure seeing mayor ray coles quoted as saying he heard rumors about the bribes that were taking place, yet he said nothing.why would he not stand up for justice?could it be that his own wrongdoings would be revealed??here is a man who was our mayor and currently a committeeman that is president of the strand theater bought and renovated with URBAN ENTERPRISE ZONE money.he is on the board of the UEZ giving the STRAND money every year.he endorsed a plan to give prime property to a person who helped him get elected.in exchange for a property next to the STRAND.he was endorsing a plan to destroy our downtown with a useless parking garage to benefit a single influential person to keep him in power.where does the million dollars the strand brings in every year go?it is donated by hosting school bands from neighboring towns to practice at the strand on fridays using our police for traffic control.we have allowed this puppet to use our town as his personal piggy bank as long as he helps a chosen few.and you singer $23 million for a baseball stadium? what does our town get? $29,000 a year in rent!and those who supported it got paid.we get nothing from it.no tax revenue.nobody that goes to a game shops at any of the stores or dines in any restaurants in lakewood owned by a jew or non jew.and that is just the tip of the iceberg.so please guys dont condemn jeff.what do you expect from him?he sees everyone else fressing.he just wanted a very small slice of the pie.

Lets be fair....The Strand is only a venue in the Spring to music in the parks which has been going on since the 1980's Its a big event to be able to perform in that historic theatre and its mostly crossing guards doing alot of the work, not Police. Downtown traffic is bad everyday not just Fridays.

Hey Ray, and all your buddies - you better watch out - once Jeff opens the "can of worms" there will be alot more arrests – don’t say you weren’t warned! This could be the tip of the iceberg!
