Unemployed? You're Not Alone

New Jersey's unemployment rate reached its highest level in 32 years in June. The jobless rate increased to 9.2 percent last month from 8.8 percent as the state shed 2,100 jobs. State Labor Commissioner David Socolow said the loss is the smallest since the recession began in December 2007. Most of the job loss was in the private sector. The state said the losses were offset slightly by a gain of 3,700 jobs, mainly the result of nonprofit groups and other organizations hiring staff with federal stimulus funds. The Garden State also revised the May employment figure, reporting 8,000 jobs were lost instead of 6,200 as first announced. AP
