In Attendance, is Chaplain Captain Raphael Berdugo and his wife, Captain Mark Siegel, Committeeman Meir Lichtenstien, and US AF Reserve, Committeeman Menashe Miller. Please note, the video and photos contain women. We would like to apologize for mistakingly writing Ahavat Shalom as it was written on the booklet at the event. The event took place at Congregation Sons Of Israel.

Bmg won't own it till nextyear but idont know the heter to walk into a reform shul unless its a seperate part if the sc00p could clarify it. So we don't have to accuse frum people going in to a reform shul which according to all poskim is ossur

Please be advised that this event in fact did NOT take place at Ahavat Shalom. In actuality it took place at Sons of Israel on 6th Street.
besides if it is a "conservative" or "Reformed" establisment how can it be called a Shul? And yes if BMG has finacial stakes in what ever it may be i am sure that there have been Hetairim put in place. But then again isnt that how the Reformed movement Started? Oy!!
You are all missing the point of the aeticle. The Jewish War Veterans is the oldest active veterans organization in the nation, dating to 1896 to counter claims that Jews never served in the Civil War. The Robbins-Feldstein Post 178 that was celebrating its 70th year founded in 1938) has members who are orthodox, conservative & reform. It seems that the other bloggers are oly concerned with how kosher a hall is, etc. Please look beyond your noses and save these comments for another forum. We are the PATRIOTIC VOICE OF AMERICAN JEWRY and proud of our service. We may disagree with what you say but we will defend to the death your right to say it. This Post and its members have a 70 year history of service to country and to the community. They support veterans and soldiers. That's the point!!!
It's easy to sit behind your keyboards and debate the permissibility of sitting in the social hall of a given congregation (even if it's not the building you're thinking it was.) -- While those who are "maleh-gareh - ing" about the wrong hall -- why not thank the soldiers who give you the freedom to relax safely at your keyboards and ponder such important issues.
We are in the midst of a war now longer in duration than World War II - -have you ever volunteered to help out at a veteran's nursing home or hospital?
Have you offered Shabbos or Yom Tov hospitality to a Jewish Soldier who may be thousands of miles from home -- (caution, they may not be "frum" enough for you - they may not even know an aleph from a bais.)
Have you ever said "thank you" to a person in uniform? HaKores HaTov applies.
As someone who was born in PostWar Europe -- I do not take for granted the ease and freedom we have B"H to openly practice our Yiddishkite.
As current State Commander of Jewish War Veterans, I welcome your support. But I don't have time or energy for narishkite.
