How Would You Spend $550 Mil ?

New Jersey lawmakers have $550 million they didn't know they had, but not much time to agree how to spend it. After learning of the tax amnesty windfall Thursday, they'll return to Trenton on Monday to debate a state budget that must be passed by June 30. Gov. Jon Corzine and Democratic leaders agree that the unanticipated revenue should go toward property tax relief. But others may want to divert a portion of the money for pet projects or to programs cut because of the recession. GOP Sen. Sean Kean (keen) of Wall wants funding restored for the arts, beach replenishment and Emergency Medical Technician training. Sen. President Richard Codey, D-West Orange, says taxpayers , not lawmakers or special-interest lobbyists , will benefit from the extra money. AP.

That's right, I think it should go for pet programs. They are also suffering terribly from this recession!!
