Readers' Scoop: Michael Inzelbuch: Friend or Foe? Menace or Mensch?

(See attached documents). (The Lakewood Scoop has authenticated this letter by speaking to the parents who wrote and signed it. The original letter is on file. The opinions expressed here are the letter writers’ own, and the facts presented here have not been independently verified by TLS. We invite further comments from all sides of this vital community issue and reserve the right to similarly authenticate same before publication.)

Well, it really depends who you ask. Let us be totally candid right up-front. As parents of a child who for years has been denied essential—and desperately needed—special services by Michael Inzelbuch (personally), we have a negiah. A very kosher negiah. We have our child’s interest at heart. And yes, we have an agenda. We want to expose and end what we consider Lakewood’s dirtiest secret. The systematic injustice done by this individual, not only to our child, but to hundreds of other children with special needs in our kehilla. Children—who but for Michael Inzelbuch—would have a bright future as full-fledged members of our society. Michael Inzelbuch, attorney and special education consultant to the Lakewood Board of Education, (BOE), caused quite a stir recently. As widely reported in here on TLS and in the general press, he managed to dupe the Board into giving him a 25% salary increase, from $200 to $250 per hour. So far, 3 members of the Board admitted they did not know what they were voting on when his contract was renewed. Despite drawing public rebuke and editorial criticism from the Asbury Park Press, Mr. Inzelbuch has still not given-up his ill-gotten raise. Nor did he even disclose his true total compensation. The Board and the public are still totally in the dark. That recent tumult has prompted us to expose some less well-known, but far more serious issues. Before last month’s BOE elections, the Lakewood School District published and mailed-out a puff piece, filled cover-to-cover with self-praise for its non-public Special Education services, (Remember, MI is the District’s nonpublic special ed consultant). Was this a clever set-up for his ill-gotten “raise”, or just well-timed, thinly-disguised electioneering propaganda—at taxpayer expense? What caught our attention was an odd item in this “newsletter”. In a profusely complimentary letter, the principal of Orchos Chaim went overboard to praise the special ed services provided through the District to our mosdos, (see item reproduced in photos). To Confused Inzelbuch TrueBeliever.

If he doesn't call the shots on who gets services, and only defends the BOE, how come he constantly basks in the glory of how much he does for the Kehilla's children?

Who exactly do you think is fooled by your hogwash?

His tyranny and terror tactics are obvious to anyone who has any dealings with him- parents, other lawyers, special ed employees, etc.
YOU are not at all confused. You are trying hard TO confuse those who don't have first-hand experience with this fellow.

Sorry. No Go. You exposed yourself.

Not Confused said...

The reason he basks in the glory is because he deserves it. Yes even though his job is to defend the BOE, he has found legal ways to fund programs that assist special needs children. Without MI either we would be paying much more taxes or get significantly less services. The bottom line is that people are plain old jealous of his success.

your story may very well be true, but
do you realize whats going on.this is all part of his whole show that he is such a great person. by putting on this show he fools the parents to believing he is working in thier interest while all he care about is how much he can milk the system, it is all part of the whole fraud that he is .he is stealing money from children and giving it to tzedakah. its all treifeh money . an esnan zonah . it is corruption and deception at its highest form . there is a story with R baruch ber when he cam to america about 80 - 90 years ago and the made an appeal for his yeshiva. the president of the shul can up to shul with his car and gave him a check for the full amount , and r ' baruch ber spit at the check and threw it back at him and said phew chillel shabbos gelt. unfortanatly today there is no one strong enough to refuse money of these thugs and gangsters who steal peoples money and then pretend to be so holy. next purim i hope you have the courage to do what R burach ber did and spit him in the face and tell him to give it back to the speacial ed children he stole it from. sadly its either that or you just play along with his corruption.

Why are all Inzelbuch shik yingels trying so hard to spin-off topic of alleged corruption? Confused/Not confused, 18-yr olds, kids at risk, LEARN, wives, daughters, yentas, and assorted other transparent figleaf dodges and distractions.

Just no answers to simple questions posed in the Letter, in over 200 posts. Pretty damning.

Anonymous said...

out of the 200 posts.. did anyone tally up how many bashed MI??

Anonymous said...

So i see people are saying that the money he makes is stolen so how much should mi get paid if not 250 then maybe what he charges his own clients 375 so explain how he stole money he gets paid for what he does

Challenge to All MI Defenders,

If you think (1) this is undeserved, unbalanced bashing, and, (2) MI genuinely helps so many children in the community, here's a simple challenge.

Shouldn't be hard to find parents who can write and sign a similarly compassionate letter FOR, not against, MI. Then ask TLS to publish it AFTER authentication, just like the first Letter, for journalistic balance.

Let both sides have their day in the court of public opinion, instead of hiding behind some respective frocks, or just bashing each other.

The most logical, and convincing, place to start, would be the parents of the child in Orchos Chaim who received the $112,275.00 in special services in 2008. Let's find out exactly where the money went, why they got the money, not the other children, etc.

You produce such a letter, TLS will be hard-pressed not to publish it. And the readers will be able to decide on the merits. Not on the basis of which yeshiva MI attended or didn't attend, (agreed, totally irrelevant).

If you will do that, you will present a much stronger case than you have done so far.

Don't want (TLS) to authenticate
due to privacy issues? no problem. A Rov agreeable to both sets of parents, (If both sides agree to this, of course) will meet with each separately, and will report that the stories are authentic, (as I presume they will be), as well as his findings, whether MI acted reasonably and objectively in each case. Total privacy and confidentiality guaranteed. Not even the parents themselves will know who the other parents are.
And, once authenticated, the letter will be published without any revealing details.

In short, we will have the benefit of a) the Rov's opinion, after considering both cases, and b) the readers opinions, after reading both letters. This will dispel the clouds now hanging heavily over MI's head.

Please feel free to offer a better variation of this proposal if you have one. The point is let's get past mudslinging, to the facts.

So, whaddya say?

I say, put-up or shut-up.

To anon 6:16
While you have a very valid suggestion, the letter writer did not claim that mi does not give services to anyone. On the contrary the writer admited that many children to get services. The question is why do some get and some notand how does mi decide and who is mi to decide. Denying even one child services is pikuch nefesh , let alone denying services to 100s of children.the question is that if he is not corrupted and making decisions based on money and kickbacks why would he even deny services to on child?

Having a letter from one parent who got services or even 100 does not answer this question or solve the issue. There are over 200 posts and not a single answer to the question , because the answer is obvious- that the letter writers alligations are sadly true.

I don't believe it is a real letter writer.. just propaganda from anti-MI people..

ok. so you're not done. who cares if you're done or not?

Anonymous said...

It won't be over if we don't get a reason why the ONE child in orchos chaim was awarded an extra $100,000 for service for 2008!!! Can someone please explain what can cost $112,000 for ONE child for ONE year??? We already know the teachers are being paid $15-$20 per hour....even IF this child had a special ed teacher every hour every day the total would be under $35,000- do the math!!!
Something tells me Y. Mandelbaum is gonna have some explaining to do for this!!!!

Anonymous said...

CHALLENGER says
To Anon 6:45 and 6:55

The proposal addresses both your concerns. Kindly re-read more carefully.

First, the Rov will validate both stories. Second, the Rov will decide if MI acted reasonably and objectively in awarding to one child while denying services to the other.

I agree this is a small sampling. That's precisely the point. Let's see if MI can produce even one instance where an objective third-party, looking at both children, will agree that he acted appropriately.

If he doesn't rise to the challenge - - debate is over.

No propaganda. Facts speak for themselves.

I never cared one way or another about MI. But now with this whole ridiculous witch-hunt, I have become a staunch MI supporter. I challenge the MI-bashing individuals to come out of their hiding places and finally show their faces..

Anonymous said...

To die-hard so called new supporter,

You're a MI groupie, in denial from the start, who're you kidding?

Anonymous said...

NO ONE HELD THEIR BREATH

expecting MI to rise to the challenge. Even with the offer of balanced equal time/equal space for his viewpoint.

Not irrefutable proof, but quite persuasive umdana that HE HAS NO answers, especially when weighed together with all the other information presented.

So if the debate is over, it's time for action.

Any bright ideas on how best to uproot this apparent corruption? How to save not only the taxpayers money, but more importantly, the children's lives?

Anonymous said...

Why would mi lower himself to go on this site this is for bored people not busying ones

Anonymous said...

To self-declared Bore.

Sure sent his 4 bored friends here to speak-up for him, again and again, including yourself. So far, none with any real answers.

Couldn't lower themselves to provide any answers?

Try again.
