Let's hope that they discussed their Takonohs to help eliviate the Toronto community from its terrible Shidduchim crisis.
The Takonohs were to be adhered to by all Torontonians (rich & poor).
1) All dating must be in the USA.
2) Vort & Wedding in the USA.
3) Parents come to USA for Yom Tov, or summer vacation, not visa-versa.
Sounds very extreme, but the crisis is very real.

The situation regarding Shidduchim, here in Toronto, would probably improve alot if the Tekonos would be implemented. But it must be accepted by everyone, and right now the wealthy people are against it, and they have the backing of the Rabbonim.

I never heard of those takanos. I do not think it would do one iota to help solve the shidduch problem. The real problem will remain until Yeshivos put out enough good bochurim to go around for the girls.
I hope anon was just joking. If someone wants my daughter and my money, he better come here.

Mr. "My Daughter-My Money".
We don't need the money up front. We can set up a payment plan or maybe even a slight reduction in price.
So, will we also need to keep on shlepping and shlepping, up north, every Yom Tov ?

To Cabburah,
I guess if payment plans work for you that's fine, but I put my money up front and most people would rather have the money up front and have it in the bank, and shlep once a year, then to worry if the payment plan really will pay out.
Again,if you are such a Masmid, that visiting your parents is considered Bitul Torah, then you should go somewhere else.

There are some wealthy people in Toronto who think, that their money will entice Bochurum to choose, to be M'Kayem, Kibud Av V'Em, in Canada.
Meanwhile, hundreds of girls are, regrettably, waiting.
(BTW, Yom Tov is more than once a year).

Girls are waiting all over, not only in Toronto.
The real problem no one wants to admit, is that there is not enough good boys, while almost every girl is a diamond. The Yeshivos should do a better job in educating are children.
PS. I did not send my son to Yeshiva, so maybe I should not comment.
