Lakewood Drug Bust Police Seize Nearly 400 Bags Of Heroin

Two lengthy investigations by the Lakewood township's Street Crimes Unit, have resulted in the police seizing 386 bags of heroin. On Shabbos afternoon, Scales, who is awaiting trial on charges relating to his earlier arrest, was taken into custody on Airport Road, Detective Steve Wexler said. Police said, they confiscated 166 bags of heroin, more than $2,000 in cash and Scales's 2000 Mercedes. Scales is being held at the Ocean County Jail, Toms River, on $500,000 bail. The arrest was made by Street Crimes Unit members Detective Sgt. John Stillwell, Detective Robert Humaney, Patrolmen Leroy Marshall and Jason Pederson. That same group of officers seized 220 bags of heroin eight days ago, when they arrested Quezie A. Clark, 34, of Delaware Trail, police said. Clark, was arrested at about 7:45 p.m. on Feb. 27 and found to be in possession of 220 bags of heroin and $1,600 cash, police said. Police also seized his 2004 Nissan Maxima, Wexler said. He is being held on $60,000 bail.
