A 39-year-old Lakewood woman whose driver's license had been suspended 47 times was sentenced Friday to three years in state prison for the death last year of a friend after an accident in which she was driving drunk, without a license. Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson imposed the prison term on Melissa A. Reeves of River Avenue and suspended her driver's license for 10 years. Vehicular homicide is punishable by five to 10 years in prison, but because Johnson had serious prior medical conditions that would have made it difficult to prove whether she died as a result of an accident, the state offered Reeves a deal in which she would get a three-year prison term, said Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Steven Janosko.
