Statement To TLS From Tax Board President PG Waxman On Linda's Retirement
JUST IN: In response to a question from The Lakewood Scoop, PG Waxman, President of Ocean County Board of Taxation just confirmed that Linda Solakian sent a letter to him as president of the Tax Board announcing her retirement effective September 15th 2009, with the tax assessor adding that she would be out on sick leave until the retirement date. Mr. Waxman added "It is my understanding that the Township will immediately begin a search for a new tax assessor. In regard to the current Tax Board cases, the vast majority of Lakewood cases have already been heard by the Tax Board or have been settled. Though I do not sit on Lakewood cases, I believe that Lakewood is scheduled for two additional hearing days, with the first date being September 15th. There is also an additional day in September for those who were unable to attend their original scheduled hearing date, whose cases were postponed to a special day for rescheduled hearings".

I called the tax assessors office to find out where my refund for the tax appeal settlement stipulation I signed, and was told they can only do it 60 days after all Lakewood cases have been settled. Is this true, legally correct??
Yes.Its true.
hello im september 10th
If it is sent after 60 days from day of judgment, the Township has to add interest.
Do you think the Buffs had anything to do with this?!

I'm with you, mine is also Sep. 10.
Sounds like we have a lot of extremely competent people running our tax offices.

how very true.
and yet no one seems to realize this.
it is a digusting and sad day when someone is forced out of a job they've loved for years.
she will be missed extremely.
What a shame. A good and decent women is being slandered and no help is forthcoming from the County Tax Board. Maybe someone should look into your actions or non-actions.
Linda is the one responsible for all teh hearings over the years on Lakewood properties. The buck stops hat her desk. She has to answer. She caused Lakewood Million s of dollars withthese unnecesary appeals with all her games. No other townjship had to go through this unfortunate appeals. Yes other towns did revals and they didnt have 4,000 appeals How come. Maybe the assessor in those towns did something smart and prudent.
What unnecessary appeals? The ones filed by taxpayers who do not want to pay their fair share?
Mrs. Solakian always made every effort to compromise. She reduced assessments when she could legally do so. In order to get a further reduction, the tax payer has the right of appeal to the tax board. You should be ashamed of how you are treating this good and decent person.

lakewood was the first town forced to do a reval in 2006-right when the bottom dropped out of the market. they used sales from 2005 to come up with the values, as mandated by state law. no one, ESPECIALLY the assessor, can predict the market was going to crash.
learn the facts. the assessor doesnt make the appeals- the taxpayers do. and the ones that need to be settled, do get settled.
There are all these claims of antisemitisma and bias against Linda Solakian. I wonder who the people are that are the real biased ones. Is it because she is a woman or a gentile that you are all making these false allegations against her? Is it because you didn't get what you wanted that you have these nasty comments to say? You know the saying, "what goes around, comes around".
Lakewood was not "one of the first" If you do some research Forked River, Jackson all did revals and they were dealt withthat you didn't have a major rush to appeal. Lakewood people have appealsed their assessment and OVERWHELMINGLY the tax board has sided withthte tax paYER NOT THE ASSESSOR SO OBVIOUSLY lINDA WAS NOT IN THE RIGHT
Lakewood was not "one of the first" If you do some research Forked River, Jackson all did revals and they were dealt withthat you didn't have a major rush to appeal....
fact- forked river and jackson completed their revals AFTER lakewood
fact- jackson was swamped with just as many appeals as lakewood their first year
again- do some research before posting things that make you look foolish.
Fact Jackson
The assessor settled many of the3 appeals and they never went in front of the board and waste taxpayer money on apprasiers and attorneys. Linda was incomptetenent in handling this whole matter
go pg!!!!!
and do you KNOW how many appeals were settled in lakewood over the past four years?
