Lakewood Police Chief, Rob Lawson, asked The Lakewood Scoop to relay the following message to our readers: From today, May 18 through May 30th, 2009 the Lakewood Police Department will be participating in the state-wide “Click IT or Ticket Program. During this time, officers will be monitoring different locations in town insure that motorists and front seat passengers and all children (as described in the statute below) are wearing their seat belts. Of course, everyone in the vehicle is much safer wearing a seat belt, even if they are a rear seat passenger. All too often, officers respond to the scene of a motor vehicle accident and find that the motorist and passengers have sustained serious injuries as a result of not using their seatbelt. Our goal is to achieve 100% compliance with seat belt use, so please help us meet this challenge while protecting yourself and your family as well.
Safe Driving,
Chief Rob Lawson.
