Annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day Service

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS BELOW of the annual Law Enforcement Memorial Day service, which was held this morning at the Ocean County Park and hosted by the Ocean County Chiefs of Police Association. Last year, Ocean County added to the police memorial the name of Lakewood Police Officer William Preslar Jr., who died in the line of duty on May 14, 2007. The families of the Ocean County officers killed in the line of duty were recognized in the ceremony during the emotional placement of a wreath at the police memorial. Music was performed by groups from Point Pleasant High School and the Ocean County Vocational Technical School.

Message to the Lakewood PD:
seeing these pictures of the memorial reminded me what ive been thinking for awhile. you see in the picture all the cops are wearing traditional police hats, they command honor and prestige. in the last number of years Lakewood pd moved to baseball style caps, i think it would bode well for the cops to go back to the traditional ones. it will right away put the officer in a higher plateau, instead of the officer just being looked at like a punk who you can argue with
